WORK HISTORY
Outreach Worker and Cycle Trainer @Recyke-A-Bike
Stirling, GB
As an outreach worker and cycle trainer my role entails working with children and adults teaching them cycling skills which allow them to ride safely in all manner of environments from both urban to rural settings. I am a certified National Standards Instructor and Cycle Trainer qualified to teach Bikeability Levels 1, 2 and 3. I am also a qualified Cycle Ride Leader with Cycling Scotland and am a British Cycling qualified Level 1 and Level 2 Ride Leader. I have extensive experience in the planning and leading of guided rides as part of my day-to-day role at Recyke-a-Bike, having planned and led rides for Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire. As part of my wider role at Recyke-a-Bike I also help in the production of funding applications as well as organise and deliver various engagement events. I have worked closely with governing bodies (UCI, Scottish Cycling and Cycling Scotland) as well as local partners including councils, schools and other charities (e.g. Forth Environmental Link, Active Stirling and Clackmannanshire Active Schools Team) in the delivery of a wide range of cycling events. Most recently I have delivered cycling lessons and activities as part of the UCI Community Cycle Training legacy programme in the Raploch area of Stirling as well as Cowie and Fallin. In the summer of 2023 I also successfully managed a 14+ person team in the delivery of a series of mini time trial events over 3 days in association with the UCI World Championships in Scotland. The event was held as part of the time trial expo in Stirling between the 9th and 11th August.I also manage and run our subsidised Bike Library which offers free access to over 35 bikes to our local communities. The bikes in the library range from standard mountain bikes to electric Bromptons to electric cargo bikes and much much more!
