About Thomas Chittenden

In addition to service at the University, I am currently serving my third term on the South Burlington City Council and was elected to my second term in the Vermont Legislature as a State Senator representing Chittenden County in November 2022. Prior to this, I was twice elected by the faculty at the University of Vermont to serve as their Faculty Senate President and was the chair of the Green Mountain Transit (a.k.a. CCTA) Board of Commissioners (20••••20). While working at the University of Vermont, I earned an MBA in the evening. During that time, I stepped into the classroom to deliver various presentations and in 2006 I was given the opportunity to deliver classes on Information Technology and Management Information Systems. After continuing in a systems administration and instructor role for a couple of years, I accepted a full time position in 2008 at Competitive Computing (C2) on the infrastructure solutions team with a focus on virtualization platforms. Being that I was still in the area, I continued my relationship with UVM and returned full time to the classroom in 2010 while still engaging with C2 for project work with area businesses.In 2017, the Faculty Standards Committee for the University and the Grossman School of Business conducted a review of my instruction including materials, student interviews, course evaluations and peer surveys. The end result of this exhaustive reappointment and promotion process were two unanimous votes of support for my promotion to \'Senior Lecturer\' at the University of Vermont.
