About Thomas Butterfield
I serve as Associate Administrator for the Governor\'s Office of Economic Development & Tourism. In this role, I am the Team Lead for the Texas Enterprise Zone Program (EZP), and I also work the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) and Texas Jobs, Energy, Innovation, and Technology (JETI) program. Through these programs, I create opportunities for growing businesses in Texas. Additionally, I manage the Economic Incentive Oversight Board, made up of appointees from the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the Texas House, and Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Previously, I was a Finance Specialist and worked EZP and the Events Trust Fund.In May 2021, I graduated with a Master of Science in Finance from Texas A&M University. In May 2020, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M.In my most recent experience, I developed post COVID-19 models for Southwest Airlines based on airline recovery data and presented results of scenarios for base recovery, upside, and downside cases.During summer of 2020, I volunteered with Katy Christian Ministries (KCM). While volunteering, worked to increase the efficiency of the process to determine whether each product donated to KCM could be resold. This alleviated the understaffed resale store from the growing amounts of donations that had not yet been evaluated.Previously, I have worked as a course pilot tester for the Texas A&M Engineering Department, where I tested 3 freshmen engineering courses, and presented feedback to the department faculty. After the job was finished, I relayed information I learned and gave advice to freshmen engineers to increase academic success.As a project leader in a large research group on water desalination innovations, I mentored team leaders and group members through weekly meetings and Q&A sessions. I led our team to 2nd and then 1st place in two schoolwide competitions.I am certified by Dale Carnegie Training in Strictly Business and by Wall Street Prep in Financial and Valuation Modeling and in Excel.
