ABOUT THIAGO UEHARA

I advance sustainability, equity and development by integrating environmental and social priorities into mainstream public policy. My work focuses on the structural drivers of real-world outcomes - how institutions, incentives and power shape who benefits, and how durable systems change can be achieved. My work centres on trade, forests and food systems, embedding environmental and social considerations into agricultural, economic and social policy. Alongside strategy and policy design, I have delivered work on the ground, particularly in restoration and rural development contexts, bridging institutional processes with lived realities. Trained in environmental governance and political economy, I operate across research, implementation and high-level policy processes, working across disciplines, sectors and regions.I’m known for building trust across perspectives, fostering innovation, and mentoring colleagues to think critically and beyond conventional boundaries.I have contributed to and shaped research and policy processes across international organisations, governments and leading institutions, including the IPCC, UNEP, Chatham House and the Office of the President of Brazil. I co-developed the Planetary Welcare principles, placing wellbeing, integrity and justice at the heart of environmental and economic decision-making.I’m open to senior leadership roles and selective advisory work in sustainability and development policy, trade and forest governance, food systems transformation, restoration, and just transformations.Work authorisation: UK and Brazil (no sponsorship required).Outside work, I’m a certified yoga instructor, advanced scuba diver, and an enthusiastic libero volleyball player.
