My name is Tanya; pronounced, the sun will tan ya. I am a lawyer specializing in the intersection between real estate and hospitality. As a barred attorney in the District of Columbia and Virginia and a licensed real estate agent in Virginia, North Carolina, and Kansas, I have the experience and knowledge necessary to counsel many aspects of real estate matters.Of my licensures, the Kansas real estate license came first because that is where I began my career. My journey to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. was in pursuit of my Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center. I graduated in 2021 with an emphasis in real estate law. During law school and immediately after graduation, I worked as a litigator at a boutique D.C. law firm until I transitioned to in-house counsel of a corporate housing and vacation rental provider. My favorite part about practicing real estate law is that I am a part of architectural history through advising real estate investments and influencing the use of real property. I recommend target properties, negotiate and draft transaction- and jurisdiction-specific contracts, liaise with stakeholders, and, ultimately, drive growth. Professional focal points include hospitality, vacation rentals, corporate housing, real estate investment and management, litigation prevention, and innovative leasing practices. Currently, I am the Real Estate Counsel at AvantStay, a premier provider of luxury furnished rental accommodations.
