ABOUT THERESE MILITANTE

Hey, my name is Therese Militante. I am a second generation Filipino American who loves food and animals. I was born and raised in California and recently moved to Texas to live my dream in the country with my horses. Growing up my parents gave me all the opportunities they never had. They instilled in me a strong work ethic and the tenacity to never give up. Before I started helping people with their finances I had a very successful career as an insurance broker. I have worked with some of the biggest insurance carriers in the world. Being in a male dominated industry throughout my 20s it pushed me to accomplish big goals and out produce all of my competition. I was fortunate enough to travel the world and win a lot of awards like qualifying for the coveted Million Dollar Round Table for life insurance sales. Being an insurance professional gave me a unique opportunity to hear about my community\'s struggles and needs. After 14+ years in the insurance industry, I began feeling like something was missing, that I was being called to do more. So in 2018, I made a big change. I sold my successful insurance brokerage and I started to help my community understand the basics of finances. It has taken me a while to get to this point but I believe every experience in my personal and professional life has led me to my nonprofit. I created For Change Financial to help educate diverse communities by establishing, rebuilding and growing their financial literacy. My team and I are proud to provide free education and resources to individuals facing financial crises. We have developed programs that can change the financial trajectory of individuals and break generational curses. I believe I was called to service people who are battling predatory lending, are on the brink of bankruptcy and simply need some compassion. Out of all my accolades, For Change Financial has brought the most joy.
