About Theresa Smith

I run SphereOI Studios, a team data scientists, AI/ML engineers and software engineers in the Washington DC area and Denver, CO. We conceive, develop, train, and integrate AI and machine learning into enterprise solutions. Our services are an unusual blend of machine learning, design thinking, and production software engineering. A veteran software developer, I spent two decades discovering and putting into practice cutting edge methods for making quality software - not quality in the traditional sense, but quality that human beings understand, embrace, and enjoy. While this topic is often relegated to User Experience (UX) Design, I take a much more holistic product-oriented approach. For me, it’s about unifying various elements of design (visual design, information design, interaction design, functionality, technical innovation, and ethnography). I spent years developing a disciplined design approach called Strong Center Design to guide product-level decisions so that every element and choice works together to amplify the purpose and meaning of the product. Strong Center Design conveys a clear and dominant message that is meaningful to people and heightens their emotional connection with the product.
