Key Responsibilities & Achievements: Maintain and expand the library’s local history and genealogy holdings, including rare print materials, photographs, maps, and digital files. Ensure proper archival handling, storage, and metadata creation. Led multiple digitization projects aligned with established archival and metadata standards. Created structured metadata and organized digital assets into accessible, browsable collections for the public and researchers. Launched a digital oral history exhibit Using OMEKA and the Oral History Metadata Synchronizer (OHMS) to capture voices from the African American community of Texas City. Collected, transcribed, and curated interviews to preserve local memory and support lifelong learning. Successfully authored and secured a TexTreasures grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) to fund the digitization and preservation of the Texas City Sun newspaper collection, oversaw grant implementation and reporting. Developed and facilitated public events, including genealogy workshops, local history lectures, and digital storytelling sessions, to reach diverse members of the community. Work closely with the Texas City Museum, to co-develop exhibits, contribute to shared databases, and extend the reach of local historical resources. Provide training for staff, interns, and volunteers in archival best practices, including digitization workflows, copyright awareness, and the use of research tools like Ancestry Library Edition and StoryMapJS. Design both physical and digital exhibits that interpret historical themes relevant to the region, with particular focus on the Texas City Disaster of 1947 and the Texas City Community.
