ABOUT THERESA LI-YUN CHANG

My lab has been working on the role of mucosal immunity and microbial determinants in modulation of susceptibility of peripheral and mucosal immune cells to viral infection. Our studies are performed using a variety of platforms including in vitro models, animal models (mice and rhesus macaques), human cervical explant models, and in clinical settings of sexually transmitted infections and treatment with sex hormones. We have specific interests in understanding the role of IFN epsilon in cervical carcinogenesis, and in understanding sex and age differences in immune responses, and in susceptibility to pathogens and diseases.
