I have spent the past several years working in health information management and privacy, with a strong focus on HIPAA compliance, privacy investigations, and policy development. I enjoy navigating complex regulatory questions and finding practical solutions that support both compliance and operational needs.In my current role as the HIPAA Privacy Officer, I lead investigations, privacy training, breach assessment, policy updates, and business associate oversight for a large rural hospital system. I collaborate closely with information security and operational leaders to strengthen privacy practices across the organization. I have a strong ability to interpret regulatory language, identify risk, and communicate expectations to staff in a way that is clear and easy to understand.My background in HIM leadership gives me a strong operational foundation. I supervised an 11-member team, improved productivity, reduced release-of-information turnaround times, supported accreditation readiness, digitized legacy records, and led training and policy development initiatives. During my interim manager period, I also handled privacy officer duties, including investigations, regulatory interpretation, and staff education.
