Investigated the use of k-means and spectral clustering to create representative time-series periods for GenX energy-grid simulations, processing decades-long demand and renewables profiles. Developed end-to-end Julia/Python pipelines to automate data wrangling, apply time-domain reduction techniques—cutting simulation runtimes by more than 50%—and pinpoint optimal balance between model fidelity and computational cost. Validated clustering configurations against full-scale runs, demonstrating annual cost deviations of less than 2% when using reduced-period inputs. This work yielded clear guidelines for selecting cluster sizes in grid-optimization workflows and is slated for peer-reviewed publication and presentation at INFORMS Fall 2025.
