ABOUT THEO RUTHERFORD
I come by the wine and spirits industry honestly, coming from the Fleischmann’s yeast family, who once owned over 30 spirits brands of their own. I have been the head of education for a major supplier in the wine and spirits field, a Brand Ambassador for Jim Beam, and a Beverage Director and Sommelier at several Michelin star restaurants, for James Beard award nominated chefs in DC. Additionally, I am a contributor to local media and blogs in DC for their food and wine section and a regular guest on TV stations nationwide. I have done large corporate tastings for companies like Google, in home tastings for charities, large panel discussions and judged national wine and spirits competitions. If there is someone to talk to about wine and spirits, I am always up for it. I have seen and been a part of every side of the production process. It is my goal to know the products that I educate on from starting point to the time it could end up in your bar or on your table at home. I have spent time in Italy at Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi, as well as in Napa, Sonoma, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana, getting my hands dirty and learning all I can about the production process of some of the worlds favorite wines and spirits. I am a proud Washington, DC native and still call this city home. I have a true love of helping people find their \"Ah ha\" moments when it comes to wine and spirits. Whether it is tasting something in a way they never knew possible, learning about how something is made, the history or the culture that made it possible, or even just discovering that they actually like something they didn\'t think they would; these are the moments that make what I do a true joy.
