I’ve always been curious about what truly makes sustainability work.For me, it’s how well we connect financial performance, people and planet – recognising that none exist in isolation, and that real value lies in the balance between them.Early in my career, I thought the challenge was convincing businesses that sustainability mattered – but the harder task was showing how it delivers measurable value: financially, socially and operationally.Over half a decade in practice has shown me both sides – sustainability initiatives that drain resources, and those that transform how businesses think, perform and grow. The difference lies in how clearly sustainability is linked to value – and how well we understand what value actually means.The challenge is that value is both fluid and deeply connected to multiple factors, which makes it difficult to measure. For some, it’s financial performance. For others, it’s wellbeing, reputation or environmental progress. But none of these exist in isolation. Finance is linked to wellbeing. Wellbeing is linked to nature. Every factor influences the rest. We operate within one system, with thousands of moving parts and a puzzle that will never be completed.My work focuses on helping clients make sense of that system – defining, evidencing and aligning what value means in their context. I build the business case for sustainability not through persuasion, but through proof – linking data with decision-making and showing how balance across financial, human and environmental performance creates lasting value.At LifeProven, we work as a delivery partner – collaborating with real estate managers and investors to define, evidence and maximise value across their portfolios. My role combines data interpretation, benchmarking and strategic insight to show how sustainability decisions drive both financial outcomes and positive impact.As the World’s First GRESB Accredited Professional, I’ve supported funds valued in the billions – working with some of the world’s largest asset managers to lead their peer groups, improve performance year-on-year and connect reporting outcomes with strategy.
