ABOUT CARL CLIFFORD
Knee injuries are one of the most misunderstood areas in MSK practice.I help clinicians make sense of them.I’m a Clinical Specialist MSK Physiotherapist with over >15 years’ experience across the NHS, private practice, and elite sport, with a specialist interest in knee injury assessment, diagnosis, and management. I currently work in an acute knee clinic alongside orthopaedic consultants, helping to reduce delays to diagnosis and improve patient pathways.Alongside clinical practice, I’m the co-founder and Managing Director of Simply MSK Ltd, an MSK education platform delivering accredited online and in-person education for physiotherapists, doctors, and other MSK clinicians. My clinical and teaching philosophy is simple:Textbooks teach structures.Real clinics demand clinical reasoning, communication, and confident decision-making.This belief is shaped by years of frontline practice, teaching, and research, including a published paper in The Knee Journal exploring the effectiveness of physiotherapy-led acute knee clinics.Through Simply MSK, I focus on:• Simplifying complex MSK and knee pathology• Teaching clinicians how to think, not just what to test• Breaking down silos through a multidisciplinary approach to MSK education• Helping students and clinicians build confidence in real-world decision-makingI’m particularly passionate about supporting students and early-career clinicians who feel overwhelmed by knee injuries and uncertain clinical pathways — bridging the gap between university learning and real-world practice. If you’re a clinician looking to: Improve your knee injury clinical reasoning Feel more confident with assessment and diagnosis Learn from education that reflects how MSK care actually worksYou’re in the right place.
