ABOUT JIM CHEATHAM

I operate at the intersection of public safety operations, technology, and organizational strategy.Over a 30+ year career, I have worked in Incident Command and Unified Command environments supporting disasters, national security events, and large-scale public gatherings. Those experiences shaped how I approach problems today: focus on what matters, bring the right people together, and build solutions that work in the real world. My current work centers on aligning technology with operational needs across police, fire, 911, and other city departments. I help identify challenges, coordinate stakeholders, and develop practical solutions that improve efficiency, strengthen processes, and support better outcomes for the community.I am at my best when working across boundaries. Whether it’s managing complex projects, improving workflows, or helping teams navigate change, I focus on connecting dots that are not always obvious and turning ideas into results.Earlier in my career, I served in emergency management roles at both the local and national level, including deployments to federally declared disasters. Those experiences reinforced the importance of preparation, adaptability, and clear communication under pressure—principles I still apply every day. What I value most from this career is the opportunity to help people—whether that’s supporting responders in the field, guiding teams through challenges, or helping organizations do things they didn’t think they could.I’m always interested in conversations around improving public safety operations, technology integration, and cross-agency coordination.
