About Jessica Brown

Jessica Brown is a recent graduate of the University of Southern California where she received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Building Science. Her degree program provided a holistic skill set within the built environment acting as both Citizen Architect in programmatic design and competent engineer in application of structural principles. Jessica has a number of co-curricular experiences which have brought her to the world of transportation. She appreciates transport as a means of both physical and social mobility, providing people essential access to cultural, educational, health, and job opportunities. As a native of the Washington, DC Metropolitan area as well as a student in Los Angeles, Jessica has seen how infrastructure including buildings and transportation systems affect the lives of city residents positively and negatively. Living in these cities has inspired her to use her curiosity, love for problem solving, and passion for the well-being of people to create impactful solutions to complex urban problems. Jessica is an active volunteer in various nonprofit organizations. As a local and regional leader within the National Society of Black Engineers, Jessica leveraged connections and actively partnered with various stakeholders to further the society’s mission of increasing the number of Black Engineers. As a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, Jessica serves her local community through targeted programming including voter education and environmental stewardship. She assists with internal training of sorority membership as a faculty member of the Far Western Region’s Leadership Institute.
