ABOUT THEIN H O.

Thein H Oo received his medical degree from the Institute of Medicine II, Rangoon in 1991. He completed internal medicine training in the United Kingdom and at Albany Medical College, Albany, New York. He underwent Clinical Oncology training at Christie Hospital, Manchester, UK, and Hematology-Medical Oncology Clinical and Research Fellowship at St Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. During his fellowship training, he received extensive training in clinical hematology & medical oncology, apheresis medicine, some aspects of laboratory hematology and transfusion medicine. In his final year of fellowship training, he trained as a research fellow in the world-renowned Red Blood Cell Membrane Research Laboratory of Tufts-St. Elizabeth\'s Medical Center and also served as an administrative Chief Fellow.After completing fellowship training in 2002, he joined the faculty of Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston. He came to the Section of Hematology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in July 2010. His interests include supportive care in cancer, hemostasis and thrombosis, bone marrow failure syndromes, consultative hematology and graduate medical education. He participates in local, national and international educational and hematology practice activities. He has published over 190 manuscripts, book chapters and abstracts. He previously served as a Committee Member on the \"Test Material Development Committee\"​ and \"Committee on Practice\", both of the American Society of Hematology, and on the Membership and Communications Committee of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis and on the Faculty senate. He currently serves as a Committee Member on Venous ThromboEmbolism Network of the United States (VENUS). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He currently serves on the Question Writing Task Force of the American Board of Internal Medicine (Hematology).
