Philosophy of LifeAthletics is an accelerated version of life. It requires that young men and women demonstrate the traits of fully mature adults at a younger age. The ability to persevere through adversity requires an emotional and mental toughness that is difficult to find. Athletics allows coaches to use a game as a platform to teach players (student-athletes) about life.It is the job of all educators and instructors to be more than just a coach, we must be life coaches. Many young people do not have positive adult role models in their lives. Development — We will enhance the mind, will, and emotion of our student-athletes. We will accomplish this effort by way of: The 5 Stages of Team Development; Forming (Introduction), Storming (Competition), Norming (Team Dynamics), Performing (Accomplishing Goals), and Adjourning (Built Camaraderie). Developed by Bruce Wayne Tuckman coined the “Tuckman’s Stages”, were stamped after conducting research on Team Dynamics.2. Excellence — We will compete in all aspects of life at a level of performance that surpasses typical standards, demonstrating consistently superior skills, strategy, and dedication. We will achieve peak performance and consistently exceed expectations. Utilizing the resources available to effectively meet the demands of our sports programs.3. Academics — We will maintain high academic achievement by demonstrating aptitude, persistence, and balance. Student-Athletes will maintain a 2.5 Cumulative GPA to participate in Athletics at KIPP Bold High School.
