About Jim Tyrrell

Jim Tyrrell is a 27 year Java veteran, who has spent more than a decade thinking about how Design intersects with software Development. He recently started a Cloudy with a Chance of SaaS Substack, check it out. Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the same school to matriculate Satya Nadella of Microsoft. To further his skills in Design he earned a Masters of Design Methods Degree at the Illinois Institute of Technology - Institute of Design.(ID). ID is the only school in the Western Hemisphere with a Masters or higher curriculum, i.e. no undergraduate classes, and 1 of only 2 in the world. This program reinforced and formalized many of the human centered needs organically developed via 2+ decades of software delivery and development. In addition to the human centered needs, Jim was also exposed to classes in Leadership, Innovation, Human Behavioral Economics, Captology, Experience Design and Service System Design. Jim brings decades of experience, education and execution to the juxtaposition of design and software development.
