WASE have incorporated bio-electrochemical processes to AD, delivering the next generation of this technology, called electro-methanogenic reactors (EMR). WASE provides game changing decentralised treatment options for organic waste from food to sewage, converting it into sustainable energy, clean water, and fertilisers via bio-electrochemical processes. ABOUT THEA EKINS-COWARD

As the Head of Science at WASE, I lead a talented team of scientists and engineers who are developing a game changing novel technology called Electro-Methanogenesis. With over 16 years of experience in biotechnology, bioremediation, and process intensification, I have a strong background and passion for harnessing the potential of biotechnology for various applications, such as wastewater treatment, carbon capture, bioplastics, and biodiesel.In my current role, I am responsible for overseeing the research and development, innovation, and quality assurance of WASE\'s technology. WASE\'s solution is a novel, modular system that can be installed to treat a range of waste streams such as Breweries, Distilleries, Cooked-food producers, Diary producers, Soft drinks and juice, and Farm Slurry. Each system captures biogas with a higher methane concentration than typical AD, giving you a clean, efficient, on-site energy source to our customers. I also collaborate with project partners, academic institutions, and industry stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery and implementation of our solutions. Additionally, I have contributed to multiple publications, patents, have won international conference awards in the field of biotechnology.
