About Thanoshi Balasuriya

Hardworking and detail-oriented student, majoring in Computer Science and Cognitive Psychology at Northeastern University. By combining the fields of Computer Science and Cognitive Psychology, I hope to create technology that actually helps and is accessible to people. At this point, I’m interested mainly in back-end software development, using programming languages such as Java, Python, and TypeScript. However, I am currently developing my skills in other languages as well, such as C++, JavaScript, and HTML. As a Northeastern student, I have had the opportunity to co-op (work full-time at a company for 5/6 months) twice: at Spotify from July 2021 to December 2021, and at RECUR from July 2022 to November 2022. I worked full-time at each of these companies during the duration of my co-op and was treated as a regular member of each team, giving me lots of real world experience, as well as ways to improve my skills. As a student studying Computer Science, I am able to hone my skills in taking real world problems and implementing creative solutions into engineering designs and thorough code. Furthermore, I have been fortunate to have a multitude of experience working in teams and learning the importance of research, documentation, and testing in the design process.
