About Thais Perez

I\'m Thais Perez, a rising junior at Wake Forest University. With a proven track record in debate, critical thinking, and research, I\'m committed to a positive impact in communication and education. As a 2023 ACC Debate Champion, I\'ve honed my persuasive skills and excelled as a Presidential Debate Scholar at Wake Forest. As a Debate Instructor for the Quarry Lane School, I am committed to helping the emerging generation refine their communication and critical thinking skills. Beyond debate, I actively contribute to the Wake Forest community by representing my peers as an ambassador for students at the Center for Learning Access and Student Success. Additionally, I dedicate my time as a History Tutor for the Center for Learning Access and Student Success, supporting fellow students on their academic journeys. This summer, I will be working as an Archival Research Intern at the Montgomery Botanical Center, conducting my own short-term project. I will also start and finish an independent research project funded by the WFU Arts and Humanities Fellowship currently entitled \"Global Empires of Coca: How a Bush Became a Seed for Modern Global Capitalism.\"
