About Thaddeus Hanscom
I build tools and experiences that help people grow. My work sits at the intersection of product development, learning and development, and systems thinking—with a deep focus on inclusion, clarity, and measurable impact. At Amazon, I’ve led product and program efforts to modernize global HR systems, launch AI-powered coaching tools, and scale onboarding for tens of thousands of frontline leaders. I recently led the development of an AI-powered role-play tool to help frontline leaders prepare for tough conversations—integrating generative AI into real-time learning moments. I served as the single-threaded leader for Global Ops during the transition from PeopleSoft to a new Human Capital Management system, and later developed a closed-loop workforce feedback system for HR that measurably improved service delivery for nearly a million Amazonians. My work has reduced churn, improved shift transitions, and made it easier for people to feel heard and supported. Earlier in my career, I helped grow Expedia’s affiliate and media business to $250M+ in revenue, led global teams across Europe, Asia, and LATAM, and served as Chief Digital Officer for the Oregonian Media Group. I’ve launched new business lines, built real estate and booking products at Vacasa, and served as a public spokesperson on CNBC, Fortune, and Yahoo Finance. But the work I’ve loved most? Coaching. Teaching. Listening. Early in my career, I worked for five years with Upward Bound in Los Angeles, supporting first-generation students. I’ve served on the board of a literacy nonprofit, worked in multiple countries, and built tools designed to help people learn, grow, and thrive. As I look to what’s next, I’m excited to continue building tools that empower people—but I’m also open to work that brings me back into the classroom or learning environments directly. That might mean teaching, mentoring, consulting, or coaching. What matters most to me is making a real difference in people’s lives—especially when they’re navigating growth, transition, or challenge. I’m especially interested in working with mission-driven teams at the intersection of education, learning design, and tech-enabled tools—or supporting students directly in classrooms as I re-engage with teaching. I bring a calm presence, a collaborative spirit, and a strong product sense. I also bring energy, curiosity, and a bias for action. Let’s build something good.
