About Ty Glisan

In the summer of 2019, I was a research intern at the University of Virginia performing under professor Dr. Gary Koenig. Our goal was to create thick lithium iron phosphate cathodes and make them into working electrode cells for batteries. We mixed the lithium iron phosphate with a Polyvinylidene fluoride binder, this would form a solid. We would then heat this solid mixture in a 600 degree furnace with nitrogen gas. Once completed we placed this into a coin cell with GEN 2 electrolyte and tested to conclude if our cell was charging and discharging properly.
