ABOUT TEUTA PILIZOTA
I am a Professor of Biophysics at the University of Edinburgh. My work is focused on understanding bacterial (electro)physiology on a single-cell and population level, including free energy maintenance strategies under various external stresses, and understanding of complex cellular homeostasis, such as pH maintenance and osmotic pressure maintenance. Since March 2019 I have been acting in the role of the Research Director of the School of Biological Sciences, University of Edinburgh. While focused mostly on fundamental science, I have a significant track record of effectively translating research findings for industry application, including co-founding a start-up company, OGI Bio Ltd, in 2020. The company’s vision is to revolutionize current practices in microbial culturing.
