ABOUT TESLYN DE LEON
A proud Longhorn of the University of Texas at Austin, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a minor in Health Communications. I am a Certified Phlebotomist Technician and Medical Assistant. I am furthering my education at Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing and hope to become a nurse practitioner. My interests lie in Research, Neurology, Pediatrics, Women\'s Health, and Critical Care/Emergency Medicine. My career focus is geared toward medicine, but the driving force behind my motivation lies in my ability to give back to my community. I began my philanthropic journey in June 2018 by founding my 501 (c(3), Culture 4 Caring. Culture 4 Caring, in partnership with Klein Independent School District, pioneered positive change to create compassionate leaders through our movement to instill student missions across schools in Texas. Raising over and planning hundreds of events, we created thousands of student leaders. After receiving several regional, international, and global awards, Culture 4 Caring thrives in schools across Texas. I continue to work with organizations like Austin Partners in Education, Circle K International, Alpha Phi International Fraternity, American Cancer Society, and Texas Nursing Association. I broadened my skillset through social media and my involvement in pageantry, receiving several accolades. I furthered my experience in positions at Victoria\'s Secret PINK, Conair, and IPG Health at FCB Health NY, and worked with companies, including Novartis, Restickity, Wrangler, and Austin’s WonderSpaces. My experiences with philanthropy and identity initiated my call to work. My career goal is to create a world of compassionate health professionals who can spearhead healthcare etiquette and communication reform, while conducting innovative research to create unconventional solutions to patient care. I have the knowledge and preparation to work with an intellectual and empathetic mind. My experiences with leadership, research, branding, and creating mission statements will allow me to pioneer conversations surrounding patient and provider goal correlations. Above all, I hope to one day break barriers in expectations as a Filipina woman.
