Tesa Wilson is a dedicated advocate for public education, parent leadership, and community engagement in Brooklyn, New York. She has spent over two decades working to empower families and strengthen the relationship between schools and their communities.From 2010 to 2015, Tesa served as the President of the Community Education Council (CEC) for District 14, representing the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Williamsburg, Greenpoint, parts of Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Bushwick. Her leadership on the council spanned 15 years, during which she played a pivotal role in shaping education policy, fostering parent engagement, and advocating for equitable access to quality education.A long-time Williamsburg resident of nearly 30 years, Tesa has been deeply involved in civic and educational initiatives. She has volunteered as a Learning Leader in District 14’s elementary schools and served on Community Board 1, where she chaired the Education and Youth Subcommittee. In this capacity, she continued to bridge the gap between families, schools, and policymakers, ensuring that parents had a voice in the education system.Currently, Tesa serves in the New York City Department of Education’s Office of Family and Community Engagement, where she continues her mission of supporting parent leadership and strengthening school-community partnerships. Committed to lifelong learning, she is also furthering her studies at City Seminary of New York and actively contributes as a member of its Community Advisory Committee.Her passion for education, advocacy, and community engagement remains unwavering as she continues to work toward a more inclusive and equitable public school system for all families.
