ABOUT TERRY SINGH
I am a Registered Psychologist in the Province of Alberta (2012 to present), practicing in the areas of clinical and forensic psychology. My areas of special interest include working with high-conflict families, conducting complex assessments, consideration of cultural factors in psychological practice, and the treatment of severe and persistent psychopathology.I have obtained the most extensive level of formal training in my discipline, a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, and I am the first psychologist in Alberta to be recognized as a Board Certified Specialist in Couple and Family Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, a credential commonly understood to reflect attainment of the highest level of recognition of competence within a psychological specialty. I have also completed extensive studies within the specialized areas of Violence Risk Assessment and Management and Parenting Coordination Arbitration. In my forensic work, I am routinely qualified as an expert witness, and have provided testimony in the Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, the Courts of several neighbouring jurisdictions, and in private arbitration hearings. I also regularly serve as a mediator, parenting coordinator, and arbitrator under the Arbitration Act (Alberta). To date, I have provided hundreds of expert opinions and reporting on matters involving: independent psychological evaluation (IME), personal injury, wrongful death, immigration issues, assessment of violence and sexual violence risk, personal capacity, vocational ability, and high-conflict family matters. My clinical practice includes assessment and therapy for schizophrenia and psychosis (including Delusional Disorder), and a variety of other mental health issues.I am an active contributor to my profession’s knowledge base. I lecture annually on topics relevant to my expertise at international conferences, and I am among a select group of Canadian psychologists who have presented as a faculty member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), and the Federation of Law Societies of Canada’s National Family Law Program (NFLP).
