ABOUT TERRY HARRIS

Terry is a public member of the board of trustees Audit and Finance Committee of Edmonton Catholic Schools (ECS), a school division of over students. Terry served as an elected Trustee from 2017 until his retirement from the board 2025. In that role he chaired the Audit and Finance committee of the board and was a past chair of the board. Also in his ECS board capacity, Terry served on the Academic Senate of the Newman Theological College, and, was elected to the board of the Teachers\' Employers Bargaining Association (TEBA), the provincial employers\' bargaining association for sixty one K-12 school divisions in Alberta.Prior to his service on the Edmonton Catholic School board, Terry served as president of Vantage Alliance Inc, a private management consulting practice which provided trusted advisory services on organizational, leadership and human resource matters. Terry’s experience spans a broad range of industries. Prior to forming his management consulting practice, Terry led Human Resources services in both private and public sectors (in both union and non-union organizations). Terry advised board members and executives in strategic, organizational and human resource planning, succession planning and leadership development.He was equally effective working with union representatives and employees on the shop floor. He led change initiatives in complex organizations (both unionized and non-union), translating strategy into desired results. Terry supplements his experience with a graduate degree in Industrial and Labour Relations (MILR, Cornell). He taught a senior level university course in Employment Relations/Law for close to a decade and is a contributing author of a text book used in post-secondary educational institutions across western Canada,\"Employment Law for Business and Human Resources Professionals, Alberta and British Columbia\" 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions, Emond Montgomery, publisher.He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, and served on the board of Skills Canada Alberta for over 20 years, including five years as chair of the Audit/Finance committee. Also, he served as board chair, Catholic Social Services, and board secretary, Edmonton Catholic Schools Foundation and the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society.
