Highland Park, IL, US

The Highland Park Community Foundation was established in 1992 at the request of the City of Highland Park to build and maintain a permanent endowment fund. The fund serves to support and expand the services of numerous social service, cultural, and educational, and agencies in Highland Park and Highwood. It is also used to nurture the early stages of new and innovative programs. The Foundation’s mission is to expand opportunities for all Highland Park and Highwood residents and to support organizations and programs that address the unmet needs of the community – needs that are not met by governmental or other sources. By choosing an endowment fund as its primary financial vehicle, the Foundation can serve the community in perpetuity. For more information, visit

ABOUT TERRI OLIAN

I am a lawyer by profession, but for over 30 years, primarily worked as an active community volunteer while raising my children. My work in the community has always revolved around helping people, policy-making, and serving the public. I have held two elected offices – I served 6 years as a Board member of North Shore School District 112 and another six as a City Council member for the City of Highland Park (20••••11). As a parent, volunteer, School Board member, and Council member, I worked collaboratively with peers, colleagues, staff, residents, and representatives from other governments to create programs, set policy, and effect change to benefit people of all ages and of varying backgrounds and abilities. I am an Advisory Board member and Past President of Community Partners for Affordable Housing and a former Board and Executive Committee member for The Art Center in Highland Park As Project Manager for Enroll Lake County, I coordinated an initiative that enrolled close to people in health coverage. As Coordinator for The Partnership for a Safer Lake County, I helped to bring over 30 agencies together to work on making Lake County safer, more welcoming, and more inclusive. As the Executive Director for the Highland Park Community Foundation my primary responsibilities are to work closely with the Board to implement their strategic plan and grow its endowment so more people can, in perpetuity, benefit from the Board\'s efforts to support the organizations and programs that address the needs of our community and expand opportunities for all Highland Park and Highwood residents.
