About Terri Hammatt
I am an experienced professional educator in the field of dual language immersion and world language education. I have recruited, interviewed, and supervised hundreds of Louisiana teachers and international teachers from France, Belgium, Spain, Mexico, and other locations. The international teachers were placed in Louisiana schools as I worked as Responsible Officer for the U.S. Dept. of State\'s J-1 visiting teacher program. Leading teams of teachers and administrators, we created welcome guides, curriculum standards, sample lesson plans in Spanish and French for math and language arts, a seal of bi-literacy, and a state-certification program for dual language immersion schools. Other tasks include leading a 4-day orientation program for new teachers, supporting a program to create new American immersion teachers, interacting with international, national, and local government agencies/entities, and continuing teacher development.
