About Terrance Smith
Mr. Terrance Smith was born and raised in Gaffney, South Carolina and is a dedicated educator, coach, and aspiring school leader currently serving as an Elementary School Teacher at Pepperhill Elementary School in Charleston, SC. He also coaches Varsity Football at West Ashley High School, where he is committed to developing student-athletes both academically and athletically.Mr. Smith is a proud member of the nationally acclaimed Men of Charleston Teach program, an initiative focused on increasing the presence of Black male educators in classroom settings across Charleston County. Prior to joining the Charleston County School District, he served with Teach For America in Eastern North Carolina as a Middle Level Math and Social Studies Teacher.In 2019, Mr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Public Health from Coastal Carolina University, where his academic focus centered on Youth Sports Administration. He completed his undergraduate studies with a 3.3 cumulative GPA, earned Dean’s List honors multiple times, and was actively involved in organizations such as the African American Initiative for Males, Intramural Sports, and Call Me MISTER. He was also nominated for membership in honor societies including Pi Sigma Phi and Sigma Alpha Pi.Mr. Smith is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Charleston Southern University, with an anticipated graduation in Spring 2026. With strong academic interests in Physical Education and History, he aspires to one day serve as a Principal and Head Football Coach, continuing his commitment to leadership, mentorship, and student development.He is an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc, a Prince Hall Association Freemason, the CCU Black Alumni Organization, SCAHPERD, and several other professional and community-focused organizations.
