ABOUT TERITA DEARE
I’m a passionate conservation biologist with nearly a decade of experience in terrestrial and aquatic ecology across Canada and the UK. My work is driven by a deep commitment to species conservation and habitat restoration, particularly in rainforests, wetlands, and other biodiversity-rich ecosystems.My technical background includes extensive fieldwork, from ecological surveys in North America to primate research in Cambodia, where I studied the northern yellow-cheeked crested gibbon for my Master’s thesis. These experiences have shaped my holistic understanding of conservation, from data collection to community engagement.Currently, I am the Biodiversity Projects Officer at Plan Vivo, where I lead our technical work and certify international conservation and restoration projects under our Biodiversity Standard, PV Nature. I’m a strong advocate for community-led conservation, ensuring that local voices and leadership are at the centre of every project we support.
