Dr. Tompkins brings a unique perspective to her faculty duties, having managed diverse functions such as marketing, human resources, strategy, & operations in the corporate, small business, & not-for-profit markets.*She has consulted and conducted research for firms such as Motorola, LA Cellular, Boeing, TRW, US Forest Service, Xerox, LearnShare at Comcast, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce/Canada, Phillips Ultrasound/Europe and North America, & Orange County Sanitation District.*Responsible for the start-up & the subsequent management of four successful companies in the health care, construction, education, and rental property businesses.*In the not-for-profit & government sectors, she has held significant regional management responsibilities with the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. and the Girls Club of America, & she has consulted with the YMCA, YWCA, California State Department of Rehabilitation, and numerous colleges & universities. She was the co-founder of the Inland Empire Women’s Network & the Southern California Doctoral Consortium in Management.*Former chair of the faculty council of the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University, & was co-chair of the EMBA committee.*In her consulting practice, specializes in facilitating conversations in organizations to develop organizational learning & insure positive transformations.*Teaches in the Executive MBA and fully-employed MBA programs. She is part of a six-member Pepperdine University teaching team endorsed by the Singapore government to teach leadership competencies to high level business executives.* Author of four textbooks and teaching manuals, including Cases in Management and Organizational Behavior. Her co-authored article, “Using Conflict to Your Advantage: Butting Heads Is Not Always Bad,” has been reprinted in corporate newsletters.*Employs an uplifting and encouraging manner, which is balanced by insightful truth-telling and no-nonsense mentoring and facilitation.
