In 1964 David Berkebile, at age 24 with a limited budget and eclectic creativity, opened his first store in Georgetown. Since opening day and for 58 years, Georgetown Tobacco has been committed to providing our customers a unique shopping experience through exceptional selection and friendly service.We have become a destination for many travelers when in Washington, D.C. and the variety of the people we meet and conversations we share have helped make this business so rewarding to all of us.Our store at 3144 M St. was created by moving an 1880 apothecary from Pennsylvania, accented by tobacco hands hanging from the ceiling and antique cigar store figures-all with a history and unique story.While the online experience doesn`t allow us to smoke a cigar together, we know we share the same camaraderie and love of a fine handmade cigar or pipe. Georgetown Tobacco is a purveyor of the world’s best of these as well as an in-depth selection of accessories and gifts from the familiar to the fantastic including Venetian masks, canes, hats, cufflinks, original lithograph posters and beautiful cigar humidors.As the decades have passed, we have been committed to providing you—our patrons and friends, something truly different. We look forward to helping you whether it’s here on the web, on the phone, or in the store.
