I lead the institution’s labor relations strategy, ensuring compliance with labor laws in alignment with organizational goals. I provide strategic counsel to all levels of senior leadership on labor and employment matters, policy, grievances and disciplinary actions, and proactively identify risks and opportunities to implement best practices and address workplace challenges. I lead all collective bargaining negotiations and represent the college in all labor arbitrations, mediations, and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. In private practice, I litigated and provided strategic counsel to employers on a wide range of labor and employment issues, including wage-and-hour class actions, discrimination lawsuits, and union-management relations. My practice spanned federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as key regulatory agencies such as the NLRB, EEOC, USDOL, and IDOL. I advised a diverse client base across the U.S. and internationally, from New York to California and Madrid, Spain, guiding employers through complex domestic and global union campaigns, contentious collective bargaining, and high-profile employment trials. I oversaw nationwide audits of employee classifications and pay practices, counseled on high-level terminations, reductions-in-force, executive compensation and severance agreements, and investigations into workplace misconduct, harassment, and whistleblower claims. I trained all levels of management on anti-discrimination, harassment prevention, labor contract administration, and union organizing. Prior to my law career, I worked in Labor Relations for a major insurance carrier, serving as key advisor to management on employment matters, including contract interpretation, workplace policies, and compliance. I counseled the executive team on discipline and termination cases, managed union grievances, mediated conflicts, and prepared cases for arbitration. Before Labor Relations, I underwrote multiple lines of property and casualty insurance, evaluating and making critical decisions on policy issuance and renewals. As a manager, I led a team of underwriting staff, providing training, guidance, and performance oversight to ensure operational excellence and consistent quality.
