ABOUT TENNIS JOHN

I am an e-Motor Test Engineer with over one year and nine months of experience in the automotive industry, specialising in the testing and validation of electric motors, inverters, and high-voltage systems. In my current role, I focus on performance, efficiency, thermal, and electrical testing of electric vehicle components using industry-standard test rigs and methodologies.Previously, I spent over 6 years at Bosch Group in the UK and France, where I developed a strong foundation in electric vehicle system simulation, software testing, calibration, and functional safety.During my time at Bosch, I performed ECU software validation on hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) rigs, SIL rigs, and also on vehicles, ensuring the robustness and reliability of vehicle control software.I have conducted functional safety testing as part of calibration activities for JLR plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs), ensuring software and systems comply with stringent automotive safety standards.A key achievement during my time at Changan UK Ltd. was designing and implementing an automatic calibration tool for Transmission Control Module (TCM) software, developed using MATLAB code, which significantly improved the efficiency and accuracy of the calibration process.I have used MATLAB and Simulink extensively for SCR emission system simulation, BEV hardware-in-the-loop simulation, and the development of custom tools for automated calibration. Additionally, I have applied MATLAB programming for post-processing of injection spray images to support research on turbulence and cavitation inside gasoline injectors. As part of my academic research internship during my master’s studies in France, I simulated a five-stroke engine model using Simulink.I am experienced in using automotive testing tools such as Morphee, HBK Perception, and Vector CANalyzer, INCA etc. I have developed good expertise in HBK Perception for data acquisition and analysis, as well as in FEV’s Morphee software for advanced signal processing and post-processing tasks.Additionally, I have conducted BEV network testing on JLR hardware-in-the-loop rigs, validating FlexRay, CAN, and other communication protocols to ensure robust vehicle network communication. With a comprehensive background in EV system testing, I am committed to advancing my career in high-voltage system testing and power electronics within the automotive sector.
