ABOUT JESSICA BARON
With nearly two decades in education, I’ve dedicated my career to creating inclusive, accessible learning that reflects the strengths and potential of every student. My experience includes teaching students with diverse abilities in both regular and specialized settings, and designing environments where all students (and educators) can thrive. Currently, I’m the Itinerant Teacher for Learning Disabilities with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. I focus on inclusive instructional design, executive functioning, and supporting smooth transitions from specialized programs to regular classroom settings. My work spans direct student support and collaborative planning with educators, with an emphasis on responsive instruction, student voice, and real-world relevance. I lead with curiosity and a critical lens, especially when it comes to educational technology. I\'m passionate about making generative AI approachable and practical for educators and students alike. My work focuses on helping educators integrate AI in ways that boost creativity, improve accessibility, and streamline tasks. This frees up time to focus on connection and learning. My approach blends critical pedagogy, Universal Design for Learning, Tier 1 executive functioning supports, data-informed decision-making, and asset-based assessment. I’m skilled in tools like Google Workspace (Level 2 Certified Educator), Canva, Gemini, NotebookLM, assistive technology, and prompt engineering. I develop practical systems and resources that reduce cognitive load while boosting engagement, equity, and creativity. Through Learnova, my passion project, I aim to provide AI literacy supports and tools that help educators personalize learning, simplify planning, and make inclusive practice easier to implement. I don\'t believe in hype or shortcuts. I believe in leading with intent. As we navigate the future of education, I\'m committed to asking the hard questions: Who benefits? Who is left out? How do we design for both innovation and integrity? My mission is to ignite curiosity, elevate potential, and transform systems through thoughtful, inclusive action. Let’s connect if you\'re interested in inclusive design, the thoughtful and critical integration of AI in education, or reimagining what\'s possible for learners today. Together, we can build classrooms and systems that work better for everyone.
