ABOUT TEAK WALL

As a child I felt a kinship with trees, animals and the wind. I ran headlong into any ocean, waterfall or lake I stumbled upon. I collected beetles and leaves to view up close under a microscope. I sought to try and understand who and what they were. From a young age I felt I wanted to meet and know people and creatures from every part of the world before I died. I am on a lifelong quest to understand and help build connections between all beings on our planet. I am always searching for connection and the thrill of ideas inspire constant curiosity about the world around me. I thrive in complexity and can easily envision many new and better paths forward where most people see chaos and confusion. This drive has sparked a constant thirst for new knowledge, to travel, try new things and meet new people. To understand what is important and meaningful to all, build bridges between them and help inspire action into a better way forward. I have taken time to truly know myself and understand what drives and motivates me. I have built a deep and abiding hope and inspiration for my work despite all reports pointing towards an apocalyptic future. I envision a world where human activity is mutually restorative with our kinship connections in the natural world. Throughout my career I have thrived by doing mission-driven work. I am familiar with many different industries and I have held roles with private corporations (both internally and externally as a consultant), NGO/nonprofit, and governmental organizations. I am a natural translator and bridge-builder between each type of organization, pulling people out of their silos to connect and collaboratively innovate. I’ve been an ethnographer, sustainability program manager/leader, community meeting and public process facilitator, strategic/alternative transportation/sustainability/community development/economic development/urban/eco-district planner, C-suite and elected official advisor, sustainability/sustainable business consultant, data/statistical analyst, entrepreneur, park ranger, and customer service professional. As a result of my collective experiences, innate talents and key strengths as an innovative strategist, achiever, ideator, connecter, and activator I would thrive as a Chief Sustainability Officer in a mission-driven organization, a role that requires both the foot view and practical understanding of ground-level operations. I believe in using business as a force for good in the world. Together, we can and will build a better future than the one we now know.
