About Thomas Celles

I am a Certified Public Accountant and a second-year law student at Tulane Law School, concentrating on federal, state, and local tax law, Louisiana civil law, and trust and estate law. I received my undergraduate degree in Accounting from Northwestern State University in 2020 and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2022. I anticipate graduating with a Juris Doctor from Tulane Law in 2026 with a certificate in Civil Law. I have several years of experience auditing multi-billion dollar governmental and nonprofit financial statements. I regularly interpreted federal regulations, state law, and new accounting standards and pronouncements to advise Louisiana state agency personnel on financial, accounting, and compliance decisions. While working for the Office of the Legislative Auditor, I also performed audits and other assurance work for the State of Louisiana Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and other notable agencies and programs including the Department of Treasury, Department of Revenue, and Division of Administration. In law school, I had the opportunity to serve as founding President of the Tulane Tax Law Society, Director of the Tulane Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic, and Treasurer of the Tulane Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. I represented Tulane Law at the Federal Bar Association\'s 2024 Tax Law Conference and competed in the ABA Tax Law Section Tax Challenge and competed for the Tulane Moot Court Program in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Appellate Moot Court Competition. I am also serving as a Notes and Comments Editor for Volume 100 of the Tulane Law Review and as a Senior Fellow for the Legal Research and Writing Program. I am a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants, an associate member of the American Academy of Attorney-CPAs, and a student member of both the American and Federal Bar Association Tax Sections.
