ABOUT THOMAS BERNDT
I am heading the rock magnetism group in the Department of Geophysics at Peking University. Our group consists of 6 members (3 PhD students, 2 undergraduate students and myself) and we develop computational models of how magnetic particles in rocks and meteorites can record magnetisations that can help understand planetary formation processes, past climates and environments and natural hazards. I am organizing and teaching the classes \"Introductory Machine Learning for Earth Scientists\" and \"Big Data Applications in Earth Sciences\". I am interested in computational methods, machine learning, data science, blockchain and in communicating these technologies to a wide audience.
