About Taylor Smith
At Salesloft, my role as a Senior Software Engineer on the Engineering Enablement team involves enhancing developer productivity through robust full-stack tooling, innovative CI/CD processes, and task automation through full-featured CLI applications and shell scripting. I apply Lean Management & Six Sigma principles to eliminate variance in our process with a scope spanning from initial onboarding to production code deployment. In other words: we make the right thing the easy thing - and ideally, the only thing. The solutions I architect are designed to mitigate business / security risks, eliminate process variance, and minimize cost through ensuring adherence to best practices by design, and detailed documentation. These processes facilitate alignment with company wide goals and initiatives by seamlessly baking compliance to security and quality standards into automatic processes. With a keen focus on shift-left, I maintain our proprietary deployment pipelines, support over 20 QA environments, and have curated a standardized local development experience and troubleshooting processes. I maintain just under a 10k commit annual average (most: 10,037 on 7/22/25), which speaks to my passion, work ethic, commitment to my company, and ability to implement org-wide change at scale. My tenure has also afforded me the opportunity of taking part in a complete refactoring of Salesloft\'s internal developer portal from a simple Backstage Elixir app, to feature-rich Python (BE) and Typescript (FE) services, used to track repository-level progress for organization initiatives and best practice, application health and state, and is becoming the one stop shop for internal information. My background in Engineering and Technology Management allows me to employ proficiencies in process optimization via technologies such as Bash scripting standardized updates for Docker, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, and Terraform in a way that brokers alignment between company values and the developer experience. I leverage skills honed at Coding Dojo to deliver solutions written in Python, TypeScript, and Go that simplify QA health management and make interacting with Kubernetes environments more accessible. My IT background has taught me to have a keen eye for security best practices. And possibly most of all, I utilize my expertise in Psychology to foster a collaborative team environment and stress-free, efficient support sessions to unblock stuck developers. It is through these endeavors that I embody a service-oriented mindset to foster a high-velocity, collaborative atmosphere.
