In summer 2023, I began working full-time as a Mental Health Worker at Butler Psychiatric Hospital and now continue in a per diem capacity. In this role, I float across all units, providing direct care to patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders and levels of precautions. Some of my major responsibilities include- Monitoring patient safety through regular check and behavioral observations - Supporting patients\' daily needs and fostering therapeutic engagement- Documenting clinical notes and behavioral reports to assist nurses, psychiatrists, and treatment teams- Collaborating with multidisciplinary staff to ensure effective patient careThis position has given me experience working with diverse populations in acute psychiatric settings, strengthened my ability to build rapport with patients, and deepened my understanding of crisis intervention, behavioral managemnet, and compassionate care.
