Tawnya is a social entrepreneur, investor, & nurse. She is committed to helping improve the lives of people experiencing vulnerability in New Mexico through supportive intergenerational community, dignified housing options, self empowerment, generational wealth building through income producing properties, and financial literacy education. She recently joind a working task force developing a community land trust in the La Mesa Neighborhood area of Albuquerque, New Mexico. For more informaiton contact East Central Ministries. Tawnya founded Hands Across Time New Mexico Inc. in 2016 with the desire to inspire creative intergenerational solutions to address complex societal issues, leaving the board in 2020 to persue other funding options for housing initiatives. She also continues to serve the community as a utilization review nurse in the Self Directed Community benefits program with Presbyterian Health Plan. She believes deeply that this type of home based patient driven healthcare model, for those who would otherwise need to be institutionalized, is the healthiest solution to many of the problems found in long term care facilities. Through the SDCB program, she is able to help members receive the care they require through overseeing the reviews for level of care, budget allocations, necessary related goods & services requested for in home delivery, while serving as a steward of the taxpayer dollars allocated to this Medicaid program.
