   Emerald South Economic Development Collaborative works to ensure that access and opportunities are shared and benefit the residents and business owners in the Chicago neighborhoods of Washington Park, Woodlawn, and South Shore. Terra Firma is a multi-phase $25M landcare initiative which will clean, green, beautify, maintain, and activate over 205 acres of vacant land on Chicago’s mid-South Side. Through these efforts Terra Firma will promote neighborhood beautification, resident well-being, violence reduction, local entrepreneurship, community employment, and increased property values. Emerald South was awarded the State of Illinois’ Restore, Reinvest & Renew (R3) Service Delivery Grant for the support of the Terra Firma initiative.
