   As a volunteer crisis counselor, I provide real-time emotional support and de-escalation to individuals in crisis through confidential text-based communication. My responsibilities include- Engaging with texters to assess risk, identify core issues, and collaboratively develop safety plans- Applying active listening, empathy, and nonjudgmental support to help texters feel heard and understood- Utilizing evidence-based crisis intervention strategies to de-escalate situations involving suicide, self-harm, abuse, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges- Maintaining composure in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations while managing multiple conversations- Documenting interactions accurately and adhering to organizational protocols to ensure safety, confidentiality, and quality of service- Participating in ongoing training and supervision to strengthen counseling skills and stay informed on best practices in crisis intervention.
