ABOUT TASHA SCHOENSTEIN

I am a researcher who thrives in the space between humans and technology. My professional trajectory has been marked by a commitment to translate between the human experience and the language of technology. As a Research Associate at Sutter Hill Ventures, I have worked closely with an early stage stealth AI for code startup, helping them grow from seed through Series A. I’ve used my qualitative research expertise to help define this startup’s future technical and human needs. I’ve talked to hundreds of AI researchers and engineers and assessed their fundamental challenges as they design, build, and serve emerging AI technologies, including large language models and large multi-modal models. My scholarly work on the history of computing gave me a deep understanding of the evolution of technology and its relationship with society: it revealed how we as individuals and as a society have the ability to decide, within constraints, what technology should look like and how it should work in the world. Whether it was teaching undergrads how to think about the history of technology or designing interviews to better understand the experiences of early computer scientists, this experience shaped how I approach research now by providing a broad historical context that adds complexity to my work on modern artificial intelligence. If any of my work sounds interesting, reach out to me! I’d love to c••••••••@gmail.com | linkedin.com/in/tasha-schoenstein/| https://linktr.ee/tlschoenstein
