Hello! My name is Taryn, and I am a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Washington, studying both Public Health-Global Health and Education, Communities, and Organizations, with a background in Optometry and Coaching. I have a passion for supporting others facing inequities and disparities in the community through developing equitable interventions and resources for justice-based approaches. I am specifically interested in type 2 diabetes and cancer research, community-based action, and inclusivity in the field of public health.

   Perform accurate measurements on patient eye prescription through an autorefractor, peripheral vision tests to detect potential glaucoma damage, Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) eye measurements with a MYAH Topography to examine a map of the overall eye correction, and digital retinal imaging by looking at the patient\'s tissues and the back of the eye through EIDON and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to support patients before they see the doctor- Support patients\' confidence and health understanding through training interested new contact lens patients on how to put in contact lenses, take out contact lenses, and maintain cleanliness consistently; assist patients with vision concerns by scheduling patients’ appointments for vision and medical experiences- Providing order through billing simple exams; prepare physical and virtual patients\' charts - verify patients’ insurance and benefits; fax documents to and from other organizations; and assist the front desk with check-in and out procedures; Email glasses and contact lens prescriptions at the end of appointments
