About Taryn M. Riddle
Second-year student at Harvard University pursuing a degree in Economics and South Asian Studies, with a minor in Environmental Science and Public Policy, and a language citation in Arabic. I\'m especially interested in leveraging strong CSR and social entrepreneurship ventures to address UN Sustainable Development Goals in global markets. I have a passion for innovative and strategic leadership, and enjoy directing Harvard Model United Nations conferences around the world and consulting with Harvard College Consulting Group. My professional goals are inspired by the business model of ENERSA, a solar energy organization based in Haiti. It employs people living in poverty to create solar-powered lights, which are then installed in areas with little to no electrical infrastructure. Through this process, the cycle of poverty is broken through a stable income that can fund a family’s house loan, education, and healthcare, and a product that improves living conditions with sustainable energy sources. This model also avoids dependency on NGOs and foreign aid, and builds long-term economic resiliency and individual agency over one\'s income. I aspire to one day apply a similar business model on a global scale, shifting focus from solar energy to revitalizing and improving the recycling industry. Over the next few years, I plan to complete my undergraduate studies, gain experience in consulting and investment, and attend business school, after which I will pursue leadership in entrepreneurship.
