   Taryn Barrett is Owner at Duncan•Wisniewski Architecture a Burlington, Vermont based architecture firm founded in 1985. Upon completion of her M. Arch from Miami University in 2008, she joined the firm as the only female employee and began a steady transition into firm leadership. Her success at balancing academics and div. 1 athletics prepared her to steadily advance and contribute in a multitude of ways. Her values as a student and now as an architect are one in the same. At Miami, Taryn received the AIAS National Honor Award for Community Service for designing a home for a young girl with quadriplegic mixed cerebral palsy. The award went to a member of the AIAS who “enriched communities through the spirit of collaboration through design.” DWA has a social mission where work is rewarding and elevates marginalized communities—the motto is to make good places for good people through good architecture.
